The Black Ghost Knifefish (Apteronotus albifrons) is a fascinating and unique freshwater species, known for its sleek, jet-black body with white markings on its tail.

Native to the slow-moving rivers of South America, this nocturnal predator uses a specialized electric field to navigate and hunt in the dark, making it one of the most intriguing fish in the aquarium trade.

Unlike most fish, the Black Ghost Knifefish moves gracefully using an undulating fin along its belly, allowing it to glide forward, backward, and even hover.

It is highly intelligent and can recognise its owner over time, often displaying interactive behavior. While peaceful towards larger tank mates, it can be territorial with other knifefish or small species.

A well-structured tank with driftwood, caves, and dim lighting is ideal for this shy but captivating fish.
